Trombone
This site was started years ago for the purpose of getting my name out for trombone. I was looking for students and gigs, and had plenty of info (or at least had planned for it!!) regarding trombone playing. I learnt a lot building those versions of my site, and it’s nice to see how my site has evolved to include my other hobbies.
I started playing music in the 8th grade, on clarinet. After three years on clarinet, I realized how much I didn’t like being one of twenty in band. I didn’t feel important or even necessary, so I decided on switching to baritone horn. I spent a summer learning to play a new horn (much to the pain of my younger sister), and then a few years later started playing trombone in jazz band. Apparently I hadn’t told the band director that I was also learning trombone, so when I showed up at the first rehearsal, trombone in hand, saying I could play it, he was a little surprised!
Three years later I got my first lessons with Wayne Solomon at U.C. Santa Cruz. What a game changer! Now (again, about three years later), I have my own fairly sizable studio, and I play in 4 different groups currently.
I am always looking to find more students. I really enjoy the one-on-one teaching, and love seeing new-comers share my joy. I am also looking for freelance playing gigs wherever possible (and when time in my schedule allows).
