Much needed day

Today was an amazingly refreshing day off from everything. I took the day off to spend with Erin, and it was nice to not worry about anything for a day. I usually work six days a week, and spend most evenings at home working on lessons, working on this site, getting stuff ready for my FEF class, or some other job for something that keeps me busy. In a nutshell, I probably work too much.

That just makes days like today so much more refreshing. Erin and I spent about four hours at The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, which according to their sit:

…houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in the western United States — including objects from pre dynastic times through Egypt’s early Islamic era.

Sounds pretty impressive, and I didn’t know that part until just now! They do have quite a lot of info there, although sometimes they don’t really explain on their little cards what some objects were functionally, only what symbols they had on them, and how old they were. But overall, I learnt a lot, and had fun. It’s a little funny, seeing this super-Egyptian themed building in the middle of San Jose, but definitely added to the “fun factor”. I would recommend a visit, even more so because of the amazing price of $9 a ticket!

Then after lunch/dinner, we watched the Sharks lose disappointingly to Chicago in overtime, and then I ran away home so Erin could watch Twilight.

But having a day off has done a soft reboot equivalent on my brain. I feel better about work, less stressed overall, and in a good mood! (Not that I’m usually in a bad mood, but today I just felt good.) Everyone should take a day off soon. I think a lot of people need a break for a day, and some quality “no-stress” time.
